You may have heard that Billy Corgan will be attending SXSW interactive (yup SXSW is more than just a music festival).
Billy Corgan will join author and analyst, Brian Solis, to discuss “No More (Music) Business As Usual.”. It will be an inside look of how Billy Corgan and The Smashing Pumpkins are shaking things up. UPDATE: For those interesting in attending, the interview will take place on Monday, March 12th from 3:30 p.m to 4:30 p.m. at the Austin Convention Center in Ballroom D.
During Brian’s SXSW keynote, he will interview Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins to discuss key themes from the new book, The End of Business as Usual, as it relates to the music industry. The focus will be on changing the methods that artists use to deliver music by re-inventing new systems that can work hand in hand with the art they created. The goal will be to put the art of music back to the forefront by ignoring the continual need of the music industry to standardized systems to promote and sell music in an era of constant change.
In addition, we received some clarification on how Oceania will be marketed. Oceania will not be marketed in the traditional sense of releasing a single and music video. Instead, the band will use new technological techniques to give fans a modern day album experience.
