The Arising Tour marked Jimmy Chamberlin return to the Smashing Pumpkins fold after a two plus year absence. The Pumpkins went coast to coast playing 9 shows, from April 10th-24th. The first show in Detroit, Michigan had a web broadcast of the first 4 songs played that night (I Am One, Zero, Pug, La Dolly Vita) on their newly launched website theSmashingPumpkins.com. A few days later the Smashing Pumpkin website had links for fans to download the video of the first 3 songs.
The setlist was full of new songs such as Dross, Glass’ Theme, Virex (aka The Impoding Voice), Wound, Blue Skies Bring Tears, Stand Inside Your Love, Glass and the Ghost Children, Speed Kills, If There is A God, With Every Light, and Home.
Unknown to the band the April 24th show would end up being the original line-up’s last live show together.
