Before the release of Machina, during the Resume the Pose tour, a mysterious and unknown promo appeared titled “The Smashing Pumpkins” & is commonly referred to as the “7 track Machina Promo.” The first known date of this promo showing up was on February 6th 2000 before a Smashing Pumpkins concert at the Edge night club in Palo Alto, California. I happen to be on hand waiting in line when fans arrived back from Tower Records where the band was sign autographs. One of the fans brought back the 7 track disc and pointed out that there was an Adore era outtake on it. This small group of about 12 people gathered around a boom box as the CD played. We were all stun by the beauty of the song.
A few years latter, Waiting was placed on a Judas O, a bonus disc with the Greatest Hits collection released in November 2001. The song has never been performed live. Check out pictures of the 7 track promo on SPFreaks.
